I tilled the soil with a tiller 1st. I added a couple of bags(4) of scotts premium top soil($1.97 ea) from Lowes. After that I simply spread the ez-seed and watered for 10 minutes a day. This stuff works extremely fast!! I am very impressed!!. I planted the seeds on 9-13-09 and by 9-19-09 I had a ton of germination!!!..and this area gets direct sun for hours. Works as directed!! Great product!!

Used this product in shady area on a slope where the soil washes away leaving only the clay rich soil we have in northern nj. used the sprinkler on it’s regular schedule and was impressed with lush growth in about a week, Only draw back is price. ace hardware online site has a good price for the 10lb bag. the 3,75 lb hardly covers anything. good to use for walking around and hitting bare thatch spots, but for any significant area get the 10 lb bag directly online for 30 bucks. amazon should lower their price to match ace. since ace is their vendor.

You’re much better off purchasing seed, topsoil, and fertilizer separately for your money. This stuff costs quite a bit. It worked best for me in very small patches of missing grass (a square foot or so), filling in nicely. But I wouldn’t recommend for larger areas, as it’s too expensive.

I must have spent close to eighty dollars last year, filling in bald spots on my lawn with this product. I watered religiously, and new thick grass sprouted after a few days, and the product worked (or so I thought). Fast forward to this year, and I am absolutely shocked to see that more than half of the EZ Seed grass that grew last year died! So I have many bald spots on my lawn once again. And I thought this ‘premium’ grass would be hardy and thrive. What a waste!

I had been fighting bare spots for years. upon recomendation of the sales associate at Home Depot I boughts some of this EZ seed. I went home tilled the area with a rake no less to break up some of some of the dry soil. Put down some of this stuff and watered per directions. Keeping the product moist is the key. The sales person said that I would have grass in 5 day….I thought ‘yeah right’ but I did actually see grass sprouting in aprox 5 day!!! BUT I KEPT THE PRODUCT MOIST. That is the key. Now this year where I planted the EZ seed easily out grows the rest of my lawn. Yes it cost more. Yes it requires discipline in watering but it is worth it because it actually works!!!
